A man with long hair, glasses, a beard, wearing a black cap and a denim shirt, plays a wooden upright piano indoors. The piano has an ornamental music stand, and on top are five candlesticks, a light blue electric guitar, and a small decorative plant. The background features a wall with picture frames and a white shelf with books and decorations.

Get to know me.

I’ve been a working musician for over a decade, consistently in the flow of performing and educating. I’d love to share my skills and experience with you.

I first started playing the piano at the age of four. When I was growing up, I added trumpet to the mix and played that through college (on a jazz scholarship to St. Olaf). During college I became entranced by the guitar, which remained my main instrument until 2022, when I was diagnosed with nerve damage in my elbow. Instead of being discouraged by this long-term chronic pain injury, I turned my focus back to the piano. Within two years of moving back into the piano, I formed my trio Big Blue Moon and began performing regularly as a solo and trio pianist all over the Twin Cities, including some of our best jazz venues such as Berlin, Icehouse, Metronome, and Jazz Central Studios.

I’d love to get to know you and lend my skill set to your event or your journey of musical education.

Outside of music, I love my little rescue pup, disc golfing, playing chess, and watching horror.
